Brainwaves are electrical impulses in the brain, produced by synchronized neuron activity. They are categorized into different types, such as alpha, beta, delta, and theta waves, each associated with various states of consciousness and cognitive functions.

My assemblage "Brainwaves" combines elements from the past and future, creating a sense of nostalgic science fiction. The old measuring device shows our attempt to understand and control thoughts and feelings.

The doll head looks innocent but also a bit unsettling, symbolizing the fragile line between humanity and artificial intelligence. The wires and plugs seem like a scientific experiment but also suggest the risks of controlling the human mind. The glowing lamp on top reminds us of past inventions and makes us think about the delicate and mysterious nature of our thoughts.

Materials:

  • 100-year-old measuring device, an insulation meter, used to measure the electrical insulation resistance of electrical installations
  • 80-year-old porcelain doll head
  • 80-year-old bee hive neon glow bulb
  • porcelain bulb socket
  • old iron rotation wheel
  • old plugs, sockets and cables
  • LED illumination inside the doll's head
  • small glow bulbs inside the gauge
