Retrofuturistic Assemblage

30 cm

"Blink of an Eye" is an Assemblage of Temporal Paradoxes

Blink of an Eye combines the archaic with the contemporary, merging the analog past with the digital present. By embedding a modern display within a century-old measuring device, the work becomes a meditation of time and the transience of existence.

The eye, a universal symbol of awareness and surveillance, blinks — a transient act, captured in a loop. This endless repetition suggests a haunting cycle: the gaze of the past eternally observing a future it could never have anticipated. The retrofuturistic aesthetic reinforces this tension, provoking questions about the nostalgia of obsolete technology versus the relentless forward march of innovation.

In essence, Blink of an Eye is a reflection on the fragility of perception and the fluid boundaries of time. The viewer, caught between the nostalgic familiarity of the antique casing and the unsettling realism of the blinking eye, is left to ponder their own role as both observer and observed.
